Problem
A historic Western New York theater is considered a crowning jewel of performing arts, and contains countless fixtures and elements that date to its original design scheme. The interior, designed by world-renowned designer Louis Comfort Tiffany, has most of its original décor elements still in place today. This theater also has extensive window treatments and curtains woven by Backhausen of Austria and original woodwork, Baroque Revival cloth-reinforced plasterwork and gold painted plaster ornaments. These elegant furnishings and other valuables were subjected to fading when unfiltered sun shined through the theater’s iconic giant 3-storey arched windows. Apex applied 3M window film to protect these treasured valuables from harsh sunlight and fading.
Solution
3M™ PR60 Prestige Series Window Film was chosen due to it’s capability of reducing the effects of solar heat and visible light on these furnishings, while blocking 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays - the single largest cause of fading. Furthermore, this film is virtually invisible, not altering the beauty of this historic Western New York building.
